When players go AFK (Away From Keyboard) to eat, they face the risk of being kicked from servers or losing hard-earned progress due to inactivity. To stay active and avoid penalties, gamers have resorted to desperate and primitive DIY hacks such as tying joysticks with rubber bands or taping down buttons to simulate movement. The challenge was to transform this frustrating friction point into a seamless brand experience by legitimizing these improvised methods with a professional utility.

The Solution

McDonald’s Türkiye embraced this grassroots behavior by creating Archie, a precision tool that transforms the Golden Arches into a functional analog stabilizer. This flexible hardware connects the joysticks of a controller to maintain constant character motion, effectively automating the player’s active status while they eat. Distributed through special Gamer Menus, Archie evolved the world’s most iconic logo into a professional hardware solution. By professionalizing a primitive hack, we ensured that players could enjoy their meal without ever having to leave the lobby.
